LMAOnaise Comedy

At the end of 2020, when things were extremely bleak for the live comedy industry, I launched LMAOnaise as a way to both keep people’s spirits up by directing them to great comedy happening online, and to support the artists themselves by amplifying their work when their livelihoods disappeared overnight.

In the 4 years since, it has become a fixture of the comedy scene, known for uplifting the voices of people who might get passed over by bigger publications, and for promoting a more positive way of writing about comedy. In 2023, a successful crowd funding campaign raised £3,350 to cover the costs of making and shipping two runs of a print newspaper.

LMAOnaise won Best Entertainment and Culture Newsletter at the Media Voices Publisher Newsletter Awards in 2024, and was shortlisted for the Women in Journalism Prize for Digital Innovation at the British Journalism Awards in 2023.
